This
little known and still neglected Liverpool marine painter
started as a journeyman painter at Hull, a busy seaport
on England's east coast, and settled in Liverpool as a marine
painter about 1846. The full significance of his contribution
to 19th century maritime art has only recently been unravelled.

Museum, Albert Dock, Pier Head, Liverpool, as listed and
described in the Illustrated
Catalogue of Marine Paintings by the Museum's Curator
of Paintings, Anthony J. Tibbles, Jones-Sands Publishing
1999. In the catalogue (prior to Hustwick being unmasked)
the paintings are classified under "Associate of Joseph
Heard ['old Ensign']. The New Brunswick Museum, Saint John,
New Brunswick Museum, CANADA, and the Maine Maritime Museum,
Bath Me, USA, also have examples of the artist's works.
